Amanda is a Municipal Engineer responsible for a new bridge construction project. Her primary role is to ensure all plans and designs meet city regulations and are safe for public use. The new approval workflow in Catenda Hub helps her manage this process efficiently and avoid costly mistakes.
The Use Case: Reviewing Bridge Foundation Plans
Amanda has received a new approval request from the external Structural Engineer team. They have submitted the foundation plans for review. Amanda needs to examine these plans carefully, add her comments, and make a decision on whether they can move forward.
Reviewing and Commenting on Documents
Access your approval requests: Amanda logs into Catenda Hub and goes to the Approvals page. She filters for her open approvals to see the requests assigned to her.
Open the document for review: She clicks on the request and then the "Review" button to open the foundation plans.
Add markups and annotations: As she reviews the plans, Amanda notices a detail that needs to be clarified with the Geotechnical Consultant. She clicks on the "Annotate" tab and uses the drawing tools to highlight the specific area in question. She saves her markup, giving it a clear name like "Foundation Markup - Geotechnical Review".
Make a decision: After reviewing the document and adding her comments, Amanda decides to "Approve" it. The MEP Engineer team also participates in the review and provides their feedback.
Submit your decision: She clicks "Submit" to finalize her decision. Her approval is now visible to the other teams in this review step. The Structural Engineer will see her comments and can respond to them.
What Happens After the Review
Once all reviewer teams have submitted their decisions, the document moves to the final approval stage. This ensures that the plans are thoroughly reviewed by all relevant parties before they are formally approved for construction. The document will eventually be moved to the Published state, and construction workers can rely on it as a final, approved document.
