David is the Construction Foreman for a new commercial office building. His team relies on having access to the most up-to-date and finalized documents to build safely and accurately. The distinction between "Shared" and "Published" documents in Catenda Hub is crucial for his work.

The Use Case: Finding Finalized Electrical Plans

David needs to get the final electrical plans to his team before they begin installing wiring. He knows that the Electrical Engineer team has been working on a new set of plans and has recently submitted them for approval. He needs to access the latest approved version.

Navigating the Document Tabs

  1. Understand the document states: Catenda Hub uses two main tabs in the documents section: Workspace and Published. Documents in the Workspace tab are still "Shared," meaning they are working or draft versions. The Published tab contains only the official, approved documents.

  2. Access the published documents: David, whose access is configured to only view "Published" documents, navigates to the Published tab. This prevents him from being distracted by documents that are still being reviewed or have been rejected.

  3. Find the latest version: He looks for the electrical plans and finds the latest version with a major revision number, like #1 or #2. He can trust that this version is ready for construction and has been fully approved by the project team.

Share with his team: David can now safely provide these published documents to his construction team. This process ensures that he is always working from the final, authorized set of plans, which reduces the risk of errors and costly rework.
