Any number of organizations can be created for a customer but based on the type of organization they might have different types of projects in them.

An ongoing construction project can be part of an active projects organization.

For each organization a plan can be configured.
Those that are responsible for the administration of Catenda within an organization can be set as owner of the organization.
Organization owners can be given access to creating projects by configuring a plan with a project limit for the organization.

With this plan there can be up to a set number of projects at a time.

The types of projects in this organization depends on the size of each of the projects.

Similarly sized projects are grouped together in the same organization.

Any amount of projects can be created in this type of organization.

For security reasons a project limit that is higher than what is likely to be attainable is often set for these kinds of oganizations.

Projects from students in recent educational periods are often kept in these types of organizations.

Expiration date

An expiration date is often configured for the organization making it so that projects created in this organization expire after a set time.

If an expiration date is set for and educational organization it is often set to 365 days from project creation.

The expiration date configured for the organizaton only counts for new projects created in the organization.

The expiratoin date on existing projects can only be changed by Catenda on a per-project basis.

Transfer projects to an inactive projects organization to free up a spot in the active projects organization.

Activity by project members in these types of projects is monitored.

If more member project activity is noticed than expected for an inactive project the project will be counted as an active project.

Theoretically it is therefore possible to have any amount of members in project in this kind of organization but it is recommended to prune the members list.

The organization tool is often used to remove all members except the main members that are responsible for the project and organization administrators.

A typical project in this organization is a halted project.

Projects can halt for many reasons, for example when a construction projects runs out of budget or when resources need to be reallocated to other projects.

Other use cases for this type of organization can include projects that are no longer in use but that people want to keep around for just a little longer.

A reason to keep a project on Catenda could be that the project has ended but there has not been time to export all information yet either because there has not been time or because there is no archiving solution in place yet.

Archive

Unlike other solutions that are specifically directed towards archiving information longterm, Catenda is meant to be used for active collaboration.
In some countries, by law, as soon as the project is finished Catenda is required to delete the data.
In situations where it is not required that the project is to be deleted projects might want to be kept around for longer.

Projects are then often moved to an archive organization.

An admin organization is created as soon as the first test project is created.

When an enterprise agreement is entered an admin organization is created if there is none yet.

If there are questions that arise at any point during the customer journey a separate organization called admin can be created if it does not already exists.

In the organization projects can be created such that they do not count towards the total active project count.

In order to respove the questions a project can be created in such an organization so that a specific setup or configuration can be tried out or new features that are not available to all users yet can be enabled and considered for enablement on active projects.

Expriation date

An expiration date can be set for the duration of the test period so that the question can be resolved.

The expiration date can only be changed by Catenda on a per-project basis.

Each admin organization typically includes a template project.

After the first few projects have individually been configured a template project is often created in the admin organization by Catenda.

In this project, typical project configurations are created so the project can be used as a template project in the creation of new proejcts.

Typical project configurations can include:

Named, empty models on the models page.

Topic boards with configured settings like statuses, types and custom fields.

Documents page with folder structure and folder configuration with custom fields and naming convention.

Access control can be configured for all of these to be used in the new project.

Project settings like custom fields and naming conventions.

Administrative projects are often created in this organization for internal communication and for discussing about conversations with Catenda.

These types of projects typically do not have an expiration date.

Test projects are often created or re-opened in this organization as long as they are not used for real construction projects.

These projects often receive an expiration date so Catenda can be tested without messing up the active project.

Projects that were used during previous testing phases can often be found in this organization.

These projects are typically projects like:

Educational projects

Test projects

Sandbox projects

Expriation date

An expiration date can be set for the duration of the test period so that the project remains active but can no longer be accessed.

The expiration date can only be changed by Catenda on a per-project basis and is often inherited from the organization configuration where the project was created.

Sample projects can include projects that are concluded and were properly configured. Examplary projects are often moved to the admin organization as a way to show people what a real project could be like.
