You will be able to save a markup after selecting an annotation tool from the toolbar above the document preview and placing an annotation.

After having placed an annotation you will see the unsaved markups menu in the markups tab of the right information menu of the document.

When you first open a document, its right menu might be closed.

You can click on the information button on the bottom right of the document banner to expand this menu.

This article contains information about the following topics:

Location in markups tab

Depending on what you have selected in the dropdown you might find the unsaved markups menu in different places.

New topics

If you have new topics selected you will always see the unsaved markups menu towards the top of the markups tab

Selected topics

If you have a topic selected you will either see the unsaved markups menu towards bottom or the top of the comment section depending on if you have the comments sorted by oldest first or newest first.

Note: If you have your comments sorted by oldest first you might have to scroll to the bottom to see the unsaved markups area.

Unsaved markups menu

After adding some annotations to your document your unsaved markups menu might look like this:

New markup

Click the new markup button to start working on a new markup.
This is what the unsaved markups menu can look like when you have created mutiple markups.

If you want to go back to edit some of the other markups you are working on you can click on that markup to expand it.

Save markups

Markups are saved as comments in topics. If one markup contains multiple sets of annotations spread out across multiple pages, there will be a comment per set of annotations on each page.

Selected topic

When you save markups after having selected a topic, all markups will be added to that topic.

Note: Each annotation set will be saved to the same topic and thereby be combined into one big markup. This can still be useful as it allows you to add a separate markup name for each comment that is created in the topic.

New topics

When you save markups without having selected you will have to create new topics to save the markups in. If you click the save button this way, the save markups dialogue will open up. The save markups dialogue can look something like this:

If you click Save as topics in this dialogue, a topic will be created for each markup.

Title

In the title {documentName} - {markupName} is suggested which will name the topics after the document the markup is on and the name of the markup.

Topic header

Select the header fields you want each markup topic to have.

Description

Add a post that will be added to the description of each markup topic.

Comments

The topic that will be generated for each markup will have one comment for each set of annotations that belongs to its respective markup.

Markup name

When you save a markup, a comment will be generated for each set of annotations.

The text written in the markup name field will be added as text to each of the comments that is generated for that markup.

Discard markup

Click on the trashcan icon to the right of the markup name to delete it.

Set of annotations

Each page in a document where annotations are made will have its own set of anotations.

This is what it can look like when annotations are made on multiple pages in a document:

Markup page

The page number indicates on which page the markup has been created.

Annotations menu

Here you will see how many annotations have been created on this page.

Click the annotations menu to expand it.

Here you will see an all the annotations in a list.

With the three dots to the right of the annotation, you can either edit or delete the annotation. If you edit the annotation you can add some text that goes along with that annotation.

This text can later be found by hovering over the annotation.

Discard a set of annotations

Click on discard to discard al the annotations created on this page.

Snapshot

For each set of annotations a snapshot is generated.

If you add an annotation to the page you will see that the snapshot will zoom out to include that annotation.

To highlight a part of a page it is recommended to use a rectangle annotation with 0 opacity so that you know exactly which part will be included in the screenshot.
