If you select a document on the documents page or in a library a new window will appear for that document. You will always see the latest revision when opening a document.

When you first open a document, its right menu might be closed.
You can click on the information button on the bottom right of the document banner to expand this menu.
File info and Markups tabs
Towards the top of the menu you will see the File info and the Markups tabs.
By default, when you open the right menu, the File info tab will be active.
When you create an annotation in the document preview this menu automatically switches to the markup tab.

What is a markup
A markup is a set of annotations that have been created on a revision.
Markups can be saved as comments in a topic.
One set of annotations per page
Annotations in markups can be spread out over multiple pages.
For each page, the annotations will be gathered together and can be saved as a comment in a topic. Topics can have comments with annotation sets from all kinds of revisions. All comments for the same revision in the topic form the markup.
One snapshot set of annotations
Each set of annotations has a snapshot connected to it. This is snapshot contains an image of the part of the page where annotations are located.
One text comment per set of annotations
Just like with regular comments in topics, a markup can have one text comment.
Note: Multiple annotations like the text and the note annotation, that can contain information, can be part of the markup. There can only be topic comment to go along with the markup.
Markup tab
If any markups on your current revision have been added to topics, you will see a number of topics with markups on this revision appear in the markups tab.
To add a markup, select a tool from the toolbar above the document preview and create an annotation.

Towards the top of the markup tab you will see the topics dropdown.
The topics dropdown can look something like this:
By default New topics will be selected.
Selecting a topic
Below that you will see any open or closed topics that are related to your current document.
In these topics you will find the document in the related documents in the right menu of the topic.
If any markups created on the current revision have been added to a topic you will see an icon with the number to the right of the topic title.
This number displays the number of annotations that are part of markups that have been made on the current revision.
Click on one of the topics to select the topic.
Select another topic
If you would like to select a topic where the current document has not been linked yet you can do so clicking on Select another topic towards the bottom of the list.
After clicking on select another topic in the Topic selection dropdown you will be able to navigate to your topic of choice by selecting the topic board on the top left and using the filters on the top right.
When you have found the topic want to start adding markups to you can click on select and link.
This will make that topic your currently selected topic.
This will also link your current document to the topic.
The link can later be removed again in the right information menu of the topic on the topics page.
Note: If you would like to add a markup to a new topic, you can do so by adding an annotation in the document preview and clicking on save markup.
New topics
If any markups on your current revision have been added to a topic, you will see them displayed in order of creation under topics with markups.
That can look something like this:

Topic display options
Towards the top you will have two options.
Show all
Activate the Show all checkbox to display all markups from all topics that have been made on this revision.
Include annotations from other revisions
Activate the Include anntoations from other revisions checkbox to display annotations from all revisions.
Note: If you display a markups from another revision the annotations might not line up with your current revision as the markup was made on a different revision
Markups from other revisions in the same topic
If there are markups from multiple revisions in the same topic you will see an entry for each revision. The current revision will be towards the top with the markups each revision under it, indented to the right.

Under the checkboxes you will see an entry for each topic that has markups related to this revision (or document if you have included those)
This is what a topic with markups can look like when new topics is selected.
Topic header
Towards the top you will see the title and number of the topic.
Click on the title of the topic to open that topic on the topics page.
If you have any unsaved markups you will be asked to save them first or discard them as you will be leaving the documents area.
Below the topic title you will see the status and type of the topic.
You will be able to change the status of this topic in this view by clicking on it and selecting a different status. This can be useful when the markups in the topic have all been dealt with and the topic can be closed.
Access required: Write access to the topic board the topic is in.
Document revision markups in topic comments
Each markup has a snapshot connected to it.
This snapshot is an image of all the annotations that are in the current markup.
You can click on the snapshot to open the snapshot dialogue just like in a topic.
There, you will be able to see the image large on the screen and be able to download it.
If there are markups, on the revision of the document specified below the image, in multiple comments of the topic you will see arrows on the left and right of the image. These arrows can be used to look through the different markups of the topic.
Note: Only markups in comments on the specified revision will be shown. There might be markups on other revisions/documents in the topic.
Selected topic
After selecting one of the topics you will see a simplified version of the topic in the markups tab.
In the topic dropdown you will see the title and number of the currently selected topic.
Click the back button to the left of the dropdown to go back to the topic overview.
Click the open link button to the right of the dropdown to open the topic on the topics page.
