In the documents section you will be able to upload files into folders.

In Catenda hub documents are containers for different versions (revisions) of a file.

When uploading a file you can choose to either make a new document or upload the file as a revision to an existing document.

This article contains information about the following topics:

Uploading a file

Files can be uploaded in four different ways.

The file will end up in the folder that you are in with each upload method.

1. Upload button

To upload a new document or revision press the + button on the top right. This will open the upload document menu.

Uploading a file like this will let you choose if you want a new revision or a new document.

2. New revision button

If you have selected a document in the document structure you will be able to find the new revision action in the selected item hamburger menu towards the top of the documents table.

If you are in a document preview you will be able to use the new revision action in the existing item hamburger menu towards the top right of the page.

Uploading a file like this will create a new revision and not a new document.

3. Drag and drop

To upload a file simply navigate to the folder where you want to upload it and drag-and-drop it anywhere in the documents section. When the file is ready to be dropped you will see the documents section turn gray with a dotted border around it indicating that the file can be dropped.

Uploading a file like this will let you choose if you want a new revision or a new document.

4. Browse button in an empty folder

You can click on the browse button in an empty folder to open the Upload document menu.

Upload document menu

After uploading files they will appear in the folder you are in when uploading.

Browse

By clicking the "Browse" button the file explorer on your system opens and from here you choose the file(s) you want to add.

You can select up to 100 files, each up to 7GB*, by holding shift or control.

Drag & drop

You can drag & drop up to 100 files, each up to 7GB*, from the file explorer on your system.

Folders

It is not possible to upload folders in this menu.

To upload a folder it has to be zipped and uploaded in a different way. See the Upload zip article.

Upload limit

Limits for single files:

You can upload up to 100 files at at time and up to 7 GB per file.

Limits for zipped files:

If you want to upload more files at a time or bigger size files please use the 'upload zip' function.

Limits for point clouds:

Point clouds often have large file sizes so their limit has been increased to 25 GB

Desktop connector

With the Catenda Desktop Connector you can automatically, periodically, upload the latest versions of documents from your local system to Catenda Hub.

The Desktop Connector is both faster at doing so than the regular upload process and minimizes the risk of failure as it uploads documents file-by-file instead of in one big drag and drop or zip upload batch.

Document preview

See this article to see if you will be able to see the contents of your filetype on Catenda.

Virus check

After a document is uploaded documents below 200mb will be checked for viruses.

If an uploaded document is discovered to be infected a notification will be sent to all users. The only way to disable this type of notification is to disable all notifications.

You can see if a document is infected if a red text shows up under the document name in the right information panel of the document.
