About Catenda AI Connect

Catenda AI Connect connects the AI an organization already uses, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT, to the Catenda Hub projects it takes part in. What it is, how it works and how to get started.

Important: Catenda AI Connect is in early access.
Features and setup steps change often; this article describes the current version.

The profit on a construction project lives somewhere between what was contracted, what was designed, what was built, and what was said and written along the way.

Keeping those in line means review meetings, checking deliveries and digging through comments and old email threads.

This product connects the AI an organization already uses and trusts directly to the models, documents and topics in Catenda Hub.

Questions about a project are asked in plain language and answered from the live project data, ready to become reports and evidence.

Where the organization allows its AI app to make changes, the findings also become topics in Catenda Hub.

The following topics are described in this article:

1. What it is

Catenda Hub opens its project data to the AI tools the organization has already chosen, so teams keep working with the assistant they know.

Everything the AI app creates or changes is recorded in Catenda Hub, like any other coordination work.

The connection uses MCP (the Model Context Protocol), an open standard for connecting AI apps to other systems.

That keeps the choice of AI with the organization, today and when it changes its mind later.

2. What teams use it for

The following topics are described in this section:

2.1 Ask

Questions are answered from the live project data, with sources.

For example:

What happened on the project this week? What is overdue? Where is the risk?

2.2 Check

Deliveries, models and documents are checked against the project's requirements.

For example:

Check the naming and metadata of this delivery against our BIM Execution Plan. Flag what fails.

2.3 Delegate

Structured busywork is done as drafts a person approves.

For example:

The client sent this spreadsheet. Create a topic per line, set owner and deadline.

3. How it works

The organization's IT adds the Catenda connector to its AI app once, through the open standard the AI app already supports, which makes it available to the employees who use that AI app.

Each employee signs in to the AI app with their usual AI account, and then uses the connector to connect the AI app to their own Catenda account.

The AI app then works as that signed-in user: it works with exactly the access that user has in Catenda Hub, and the project's permissions apply unchanged.

The AI app proposes and a person decides.

What it creates, such as topics, reports or links, is reviewed before it is written, and stays in Catenda Hub with the same history as any other coordination work.

4. Control over project data

The organization decides which AI works with its project data, and can change that decision later because the connection is an open standard that any supporting AI app can use.

Catenda Hub stays the single source of project information.

The AI app reaches the data the signed-in user is authorized to see, and access rights stay managed in one place.

5. Getting started

Catenda AI Connect is available in early access.

Catenda AI Connect is not only for organizations that own projects in Catenda Hub.

An organization that is invited to the projects of other organizations can get Catenda AI Connect too.

Such an organization does not need to own a project itself.

Catenda AI Connect then works on two kinds of project.

The first kind is the projects the organization runs itself.

The second kind is the projects the organization is invited to, as long as the organization running that project allows Catenda AI Connect there.

When an organization allows Catenda AI Connect on a project, that does not mean every invited person can use Catenda AI Connect there.

Each person's own organization may have a policy against using AI on projects.

Catenda AI Connect and project access describes this in more detail.
