Limiting filter results

If there is a set of filters you use a lot it is possible to save them on the top of the filter bar.

Every time you navigate to a page you will see the default filters.

It can be a hassle to filter for the right filters every time.

With saved filters you can easily search for a set of filters with once click without having to type them in every time.

This article contains information about the following topics:

Filter appearance

Indentation

When filters are grouped together there they are often displayed under a main toggle with options that are indented to the right.

The main toggle enables and disables all of this type of filter.

To disable all of this type of filter, first add any remaining options to the fitler so all are applied and then toggle the main fitler to disable all.

Toggles

Check the filter toggles to narrow down the search.

A square toggle means multiple of that type of filter can be applied.

A round toggle means only one of that type of filter can be applied.

Excluding other filters

When any of the filters in the left panel are hovered over "only" can be clicked on the right of the filter to remove any other, previously applied, filters.

Hide empty filters

The "Hide empty filters" radio button can be found towards the top of each filter menu.
By default the radio button is toggled on.
Empty filters describes filter options that match the results in the table.

By default all filter options that offer results on any resulting row int he table are displayed in the filter menu.

Filter options that do not have any results, for example a label that is not applied to any row in the table, are therefore not displayed in the table and might appear when the radio button is toggled off.

Row results that are limited by filter
Filter that are applied in a table narrow down the resulting rows.
With the radio button toggled on, the filter menu now displayes fitler options that apply to the the rows in the filtered result.

It seem like some filter options, that were previously available because they applied to rows that are no longer in the search results, disappear but it is simply narrowing down the options.
To also see filters that do not apply to the filtered results toggle off the "hide empty filters" radio button.

Saving a new set of filters

In order to save a filter you need to at least have at least one filter enabled.
With a set of filters enabled, click the Save button to save the current filter.

This filter will be available to you next time you use Catenda Hub and will not be visible to other users.

Saved filters will only be visible to you and not for other members of the project.

Editing saved filters

Once you have saved a filter you will be able to click on edit to edit your saved filters.

In edit mode you can:

Edit the name of the filter - Pencil

Update the filter with what is currently filtered - Refresh icon

Delete the filter - Trashcan.

Remember to click Done on the top right when you are done.

Activating a saved filter

To filter for the set of saved filters simply click on your saved filter in the filter menu on the left and you will see the filters appear in the search bar.

Sharing saved filters with project members

As mentioned before, saved filters are only saved for you.
When you activate the filter, you will see the filters appear in the search bar.

When you do this, the URL of the page also changes to contain the filters.
An easy way to share your saved filters with users is therefore by sending the filtered page in a message or via Sharelink.

If you wish for people in the project to have access to these filters without having to send them to each member individually you can create a link in the links library.

This is especially useful as the link with the filters can then be linked to topics and objects.

Preference for expanding and retracting filters

Your preferences for expanding and retracting filter menus on the different pages will be applied across projects and saved in the cookies of your browser.
If you for example have two projects open in the same browser and retract the labels menu on the topics page in one project that menu will also be retracted when you refresh the topics page of the other project.

Pages where you can save current filters

You will be able to save filters on the following pages:
